2019 Spring Recycle Drive

The Daniel K. Inouye International Airport continues to reach new sustainability goals by supporting it's tenants with sponsorship of the Spring 2019 Recycle Drive. The second event in the Spring 2019 clean-up effort brought together airlines, tenants and contractors who endorsed the DOTA's willingness to pay for the collection, hauling and disposal of large bulky items. Those items included scrap metals, electronic waste, batteries, TVs, vehicles and appliances.

The KYA Sustainability Group coordinated the one day event that included hiring haulers, orchestrating collection labor and equipment, directing the materials drop-off, scheduling the hauling and verifying proper disposal. The event collected 13,000 plus pounds of electronics, 800 pounds of TVs and hauling out 280 cubic yards of metals and bulky items. Many thanks to the 20 plus participating companies who were helpful in organizing their items in a timely fashion!
